Mastering Elevated Workwear With Kate Bucceri

You may know Kate Bucceri from her #WardrobeDiaries, which we look forward to weekly as a source of outfit inspiration. As someone who works in luxury communications and events, Kate definitely has an eye for putting together outfits that are classic with a little edge, and we love seeing her daily work looks.

We spoke with Kate about how she approaches dressing for her Monday to Friday (hint: she relies on a core capsule), the office approved outfit formulas that always work for her, and her five work wardrobe essentials.

What do you do for work?

I work in luxury communications and events.

What does a typical week look like for you? Do you go into the office, WFH, external meetings etc.

I am in the office majority of the week, with a day or two at home when I have to coordinate around my son. I love going into the office for the social connection but really enjoy the space and alone time to be my most productive. The balance is definitely key – important to be present but beneficial to have time to think.

What do you look for in your Monday-Friday work wardrobe?

I am all about having a core capsule collection of 5-10 pieces I wear day in day out and rotate. Some of these pieces I have had for years but keep on going back to as they are so well made and well cut. I might buy something new outside of this collection, but the new pieces always work back with them. It makes getting ready for work so much easier as they are tried and tested, and I can update the styling with new pieces. A good example is my Esse men’s style pants, I bought them at least 2 years ago but still wear them weekly.

How do you approach your work outfits? Is there a formula that works for you?

I like to start with one piece from my core collection and build the styling on top of this. I am also all about comfort and good quality cuts – a well-made white shirt, blazer and pants go a long way. I suggest investing in these quality items and limiting the one-off seasonal purchases that go to die at the back of your wardrobe!

Does your work wardrobe cross over into your social/weekend wardrobe or do you keep them separate?

Very separate! My work allows me the opportunity to get quite dressed up each day and I also attend quite a few events. I love this part of my job and relish the opportunity to wear beautiful dresses and suits with gorgeous jewellery. On the weekend, I am the total opposite as I live by the beach and have toddler! My weekend wardrobe mainly consists of jeans, t shirts and sneakers currently and in the upcoming months – bikinis and summer linen dresses only!

2. Men’s style wide leg pants

3. Good quality white t shirt

4. Well cut jeans

5. Good quality jewellery
