AGMES x Simone Bodmer-Turner
If you follow the likes of eyeswoon's Athena Calderone or Christie Tyler on instagram, you are probably well aware of New York based ceramist Simone Bodmer-Turner. Her sculptural pieces in a pared back monotone palette of black and ivory are in the homes of some of the most stylish men and women we take note from, and have well and truly found their way into our coveted 'saved folder'. So when we heard she had collaborated with jewellery brand AGMES, we knew we wanted to get our hands on her sculptural art creations that you can wear.
Based in New York City, AGMES is led by sisters Morgan and Jaclyn Solomon who founded the company in 2016. Dedicated to producing sustainable jewellery that has a small environmental footprint, AGMES focuses on creating pieces that will become modern heirlooms and embody a sense of timelessness.
The sisters have always found inspiration in art and architecture, defining their work as 'creating wearable pieces of art'. As long time fans of Simone's work, their new collaboration with the Brooklyn-based ceramist is the perfect extension to their brand.
Designed and developed completely remotely during the pandemic induced lockdown in New York, the capsule collection reshapes some of Simone's existing pieces into miniature wearable sculptural art. With her signature abstract style, highlighting curvy forms and emphasising the power of negative space shining through in the collection. Crafted in recycled silver and gold, the collection includes statement drop earrings with freshwater pearls and beautiful studs with a twist.
"Working on a line of jewellery has always been a dream of mine, and for years I've been collecting sculptural, biomorphic silver pieces from my travels, flea markets, and designers I admire. When Morgan & Jaclyn approached me to collaborate with them on this line I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to bring this amorphic idea to life. It was a fun exercise in sculpting really small, and I am enormously grateful to AGMES' team for working with my tiny sculptures to turn them into all the many small metal pieces that form this collection.
